Technology today allows us to produce in a laboratory, a diamond that is entirely equal to a natural diamond, that we recognise as having identical physical and chemical characteristics as natural gems. The XDiamond originates in a laboratory from a “carbon particle” and becomes a diamond via one of two possible chemical processes, in which the same conditions of heat and pressure are recreated as exist in a natural diamond.

How does the process of creating a Lab Grown diamond work?
High-pressure high-temperature (HPHT)
This technology recreates the same environment in which natural rough stones are formed, with the same high temperatures (1,500 degrees Celsius) and high pressure (around 50,000/60,000 atmospheres) to which natural diamonds are subjected in the earth’s crust. A carbon particle is placed inside this environment and, once the process is concluded, transforms into a diamond, and will be cooled down, cleaned and prepared for cutting and polishing.
Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD)
During the CVD process, inside a controlled lab environment, very pure gas rich in carbon, is reheated to 2,000 degrees Celsius, and atoms are deposited on a substrate and generate the crystal of a rough diamond. Once extracted from the CVD lab, the crystals that have become diamonds can be processed into the final product. In some cases, diamonds for alternative applications to jewellery, can be subjected also to a high heat and pressure treatment. The result is pure technology! In six days the diamonds reach sizes equivalent to around 15 carats weight with a level of hardness 50 times superior to that of natural diamonds. The CVD process finds applications also in the optical and electronic semi-conductor sectors that used silicon.
WHY IS NOT CALLED
The Federal Trade Commission, a U.S. government agency that oversees consumer rights and invigilates the correctness of trading practices, has made huge steps, issuing a new definition of a diamond, encompassing lab-grown diamonds “Lab-Grown Diamonds Are Diamonds” – Says FTC. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has expanded its definition of “diamond” to include those grown in a laboratory. The FTC said. “Since then, technological advances have made it possible to create diamonds in a laboratory. These stones have essentially the same optical, physical and chemical properties as mined diamonds. Thus, they are diamonds.”
One should also qualify the word “cultured” when describing man-made stones, the commission added, as the term on its own often leads consumers to believe a diamond is mined. The commission suggests marketers use words such as “man-made,” “lab-grown” or “foundry” to qualify “cultured,” thereby avoiding confusion about a diamond’s origins. However, marketers should not use the word “synthetic” to qualify “cultured,” the FTC noted, as it creates confusion among consumers, who believe the term indicates a stone is fake or artificial.

The Certification of diamonds XDiamond
All our jewels are accompanied by the certification of our internal gemological laboratory, in which a cluster of the selected characteristics to which the diamonds belong (color, purity, cut, carat …) and of the jewel in general is identified. Jewelery with diamonds of 1 carat or greater can be accompanied by an international certification issued by the same institutes that certify natural diamonds and with the same parameters (IGI, GIA, HRD, ..) based on availability at the time. All jewellery using diamonds in the X Diamond will be described and guaranteed in a gemmological certificate signed by X Diamond gemmologists (color, purity, cut, carat …). From 1 carat and up, universally recognised gemmological certificates ( (IGI, GIA, HRD, ..) will be issued.
WHERE XDIAMOND JEWELS
All of the XDiamond jewels are hand made in Italy, created by designers and made by specialised master goldsmiths.
The diamonds in the X Diamond range are derived from rigorous processing and have guaranteed traceability.
